About The Position
Applicants must be outgoing, enjoy educating a diverse audience, confident in a leadership role, and have a love of nature. In addition to knowledge of the natural history of the area, qualified applicants need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to entertain the clients. Strong communication and public speaking skills are a must.
Experience with singletrack and desert riding is important. Bike guides should be confident in basic on-trail maintenance and repair, including changing flats, chain repair, and gear adjustments. Preference will be given to those with bike mechanic experience or certifications. While biking guides may specialize in one area, they are encouraged to support and cross-train in other disciplines. Must be willing to work long hours in harsh environments, be physically fit, and able to lift 50+ lbs overhead.
Guides will lead day trips, multi-sport or multi-day bike trips, and shuttle guests to/from Las Vegas hotels. Guides must demonstrate solid work ethic, possess high standards, and be patient, detail-oriented, and extremely organized. Responsibilities include maintaining and cleaning equipment and coordinating logistics. Qualified applicants must be able to make proper decisions quickly and work calmly in tense or chaotic situations and be efficient within a team. You must always act in a professional manner, and dress according to your job function.
Previous guiding experience is highly desired but not necessary. Applicants with no prior guiding experience can gain the necessary skills by enrolling in our Guide School (additional fee). Scholarships may be awarded to qualified applicants.
